The Sierra Club's lawsuit and claims are hard to take seriously. For instance, club lawyer Lesley Blackner says the project is being constructed in segments to keep residents from realizing its overall impact. Apparently Blackner has never heard of responsible planning, and she fails to give credit to residents who can visualize a distance of 42 miles.
When complete in 2001, the Suncoast Parkway will provide convenient - and scenic - travel. Planners and builders have struck an appealing balance between nature and much-needed transportation. The Sierra Club should take off its blinders.
